On 24 September 2002 the managing company of the Experimental Factory Magdeburg - ZPVP GmbH - received a grant in the amount of 818,000 EUR. With these funds, says Dr. Reinhard Fietz, CEO of the ZPVP GmbH, a co-operation network of different institutes and enterprises will be supported for the advancement of the magnetic levitation technology for mechanical engineering.

One of the internationally patented developments based on this technology, led by Karl-Heinz Wiemers, partner of the w.i.t. Gmbh in Barleben, Germany provides for the insert of magnetic modules in conventional tooling machines. The new development allows the work piece to be machined with different interchangeable tool systems.

In the future machine tools will utilize this technology for a high precision and silent operation, without lubricants and without wear. Announcing the grant, Under-Secretary of Economy for the German state of Saxony-Anhalt, Manfred Maas, says that he expects an important growth potential for Saxony-Anhalt from this research. The government expects a market volume of 23 million EUR annually from approximately 30 potential users.

"The RIBA Prize for Architecture 2002" is awarded to the Experimental Factory Magdeburg. The ZPVP GmbH was informed on 7 May 2002 by Ian Davidson, Chair of the RIBA Awards Group.

All building projects, which receive the RIBA architecture Award, will be considered to receive the "Stirling Prize", Great Britain's most prestigious architecture award.

The RIBA Architecture Award is given only to a few projects in Europe outside of Great Britain, which shows the prestige of this prize.

Use our conference rooms for your events! The conference rooms in the Experimental Factory are available for rent.

At no extra charge you can use our installed technology as screens, overhead projector, podium and welcome your guests on a plasma screen in the foyer of the building. In addition you can rent our extended high quality conference technology: telephone and fax, internet access, media center (computer back-light projection, VCRs, DVDs, CDs) and wireless or wired microphones.
